So what does it mean that Bangkok is the UNESCO World Book Capital in 2013…?
- UNESCO started having a World Book Capital in 2001, with Madrid as the first city
- It is awarded to celebrate a city with lots of programmes to promote reading, a strong publishing industry, and freedom of speech (where writers can write whatever they choose)
