Over the last few days, 4LP have worked incredibly hard to produce their own ‘Shaky Hand Testers.’ They chose a theme for their design which they thought was suitable for children in Year 2. It took resilience and trial and error to finally make all of the components work! 4LP then visited 2JG so that the Year 2’s could test out our electronic design. We were very impressed with the younger children’s determination and it was also very pleasing to see the children in 4LP interact with the Year 2’s in such a considerate way.
After designing and making an electric circuit, formed into a “shaky hand tester”, 4CL headed down to test the steadiness of the hands in 2KP! There were some record breaking speeds recorded, and some very steady hands!
4AW tested out their shaky hand testers in year 2 today. It was wonderful to see all the circuits work, and a lot of fun was had by all. Year 2 gave us some useful feedback about enjoyment and how we could improve.
Children were excited today to meet their new teachers…it really doesn’t seem like a whole year since we first met them ourselves! We wish all our students the very best for next year.
In Literacy, we have linked back to our residential visit through writing our own recounts about our experience. These recounts have been written up on to Book Creator and will hopefully be a great reminder of children’s first residential experience.
In Numeracy, we have completed our learning on capacity. Some classes have also designed a Kahoot quiz to test their understanding. Why not try your child’s quiz at home!
In Science we carried out a fair test to see which materials conduct electricity and which are insulators. We learnt a valuable lesson about staying out of water if there is lightning nearby. During Art, we began building our shaky hand testers, thinking about our choice of colours and design to appeal to our Year 2 audience. Once these are complete, we will take them to year 2 to try!
Have a great weekend!
