Workshop Description
We are in unprecedented times, change has become the norm for life. William Daggett says “The world our kids are going to live in is changing four times faster than our schools”, if you worry about this – this is the course for you.

Dave Harris has over 20 years experience as a school leader in some of the most deprived areas of the UK. Dave brings a mixture of research, humour, practical ideas and experince to help any leader evaluate what they are doing, why and what they want to do next. The opposite of Bravery is not cowardice but conformity!

Workshop Facilitator
Dave has over over 20 years experience as a school leader in some of the most deprived areas of the UK. He was a school principal for over 12 years including 6 as founder of an all age 3-18 school. He is author of Brave Heads and Are You Dropping the Baton? – A Guide to Effective Transitions and is currently writing a new book Leadership Dialogues with Prof. John West-Burnham.

Dave Harris believes in pushing the boundaries of education to help pupils reach their potential. He believes that innovative partnerships, high expectations of both staff and students and being brave enough to do what you feel just might work are the secret to succeeding in these challenging times.

This will be Dave’s first visit to Thailand.

Aims of the course
This course will enhance colleague’s core professional skill of observing learning and giving feedback, both oral and written. During the course, colleagues will watch a number of lessons on DVD and deliver both a written evaluation of the learning in a lesson(s) as well as ‘practise’ giving oral feedback to a ‘teacher’.

The role of learning observations in informing a: subject / department / year group / school’s judgement regarding standards and quality of learning;
Exploring a consistent and coherent set of objective criteria for judging
learning in lessons;
Develop a school-wide model of best-practice in establishing processes
and procedures for learning observation;
Preparing a written evaluation of learning in a lesson and ‘practise’
providing feedback to one another;
Guidance for a school to ensure greater consistency when undertaking
learning observations;
Sharing and developing best practice.
