We have all had a super busy week in Year 1, this week.
We have been continuing to develop our skills in Numeracy in order to double and make equal groups of amounts. We have been doing this through problem solving, and then explaining our work through reasoning. Alongside this learning, we have continued to practise counting in twos, fives and tens and we are getting much quicker at it.
In Literacy, we have been continuing our work linked to the story ‘Beegu’.
This week, we have been using descriptive language to describe a story setting. We thought about all of the different words we could use to describe where Beegu might live. Some of ideas were very imaginative and interesting.
In Art, we designed our own diorama of Beegu’s home and thought about the different materials we will use. We explored colour and texture and discussed how we will make them. Please remember to send your child into school with a shoe box for them to use to make their diorama, next week.
In Topic, we have continued to learn about famous explorers from the past. This week, we learnt some more about Christopher Columbus and how he discovered America. Then, we were introduced to Amelia Earhart who was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. We were all very impressed by her achievements.
Well, that’s all for this week. Thank you for your continued support and have a great weekend.
