Welcome back – we hope you had a lovely break and are ready for another action packed half term!
Because we all had so much fun on our holidays, in Literacy we decided to write about all of the exciting things we did. We made sure to use the past tense, include punctuation, and use our phonics to help us spell. It was a lot of fun sharing stories of our adventures last week!
In Maths we counted in 2s, 5s and 10s and thought about any patterns that might arise. We used a variety of manipulatives to represent the multiples – ask us what ‘represent’ and ‘multiples’ means, we’re really good at explaining this!
In Science we began our new topic on Materials and shared what we already know about materials, and what we would like to find out this half term.
In History we looked at the famous astronaut, Neil Armstrong, and put his life events in the correct order.
This half term in D&T we will learning how to use a variety of tools safely in order to build a spaceship! This week we used hammers and nails, and made sure to keep our fingers and eyes safe.
That’s all for this week!
Don’t forget – next week is Fully Booked week and on Friday 8th March the children will parade in their homemade alien costumes! Parents are welcome to watch the parade, which will begin at 7:50 in the long court.
Have a fantastic weekend,
The Year 1 Team
