This week started off in a fun and exciting way with the Charity Fair on Monday afternoon. Thank you to all of you who came to support it and had a go on Year’s One’s infamous ‘Splat the Rat” game!
We then watched the fabulous Year 4 show ‘Dragon Days’ on Tuesday morning and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! The acting and singing was brilliant! Well done to all involved!
In Literacy this week we have been looking at play scripts and their key features and then wrote our own about Beegu being reunited with his family. We are going to use these to create animations next week using our dioramas.

In Maths, we have started learning about fractions and dividing objects and shapes into halves and quarters. We even made jam sandwiches and ‘halved’ them to share with a friend! Perhaps you could make a pizza or cake at home and share it into halves and quarters.

In Science, we are continuing to learn about materials and their properties. We read cryptic descriptions and then matched them to the actual material.

In History this week, we are focusing on the female explorer Amelia Earhart and, in groups, have been researching and matching answers to key questions about her life.

Just a reminder that on Monday 1st April it is our trip to Kidzania. The children are so excited! PE school uniform needs to be worn and can your child bring a jumper/cardigan with them please? Also the children need to bring a small backpack containing their water bottle and a wallet/purse to keep their KidZo money in. Thanks for your support with this.

Have a great weekend,

The Year 1 Team
