Weekly Review Friday 14th September 2018
What an exciting week we have had in Year 2.
In Literacy this week the children have had the opportunity to learn the Pirate Pete text that we have been using. We started the week learning actions to the words to help us remember each sentence. We then went on to acting out the story in smaller groups. We looked at the rich vocabulary in the text and learnt about adverbs, verbs, nouns and adjectives. The children also chose a character from the story and used speech bubbles to show what they might be saying. The children then went on to changing the speech bubble into direct speech and used punctuation to write it correctly in a sentence.
In Maths the children have been learning how to order numbers. We looked at placing numbers onto a blank number track. The children worked hard to cooperate with each other to function as a group. We have also been counting forwards and backwards in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
The Pirate topic is going well and the children have been learning about human and physical features of pirate islands, cities and the countryside.
Have a great week end.
