Welcome back to Term 1B.  We hope you have had a restful and joyful break!  Thank you for your support with the fantastic holiday journals that the children have completed.  We can clearly see that there has been a lot of effort that has gone into this homework

In Literacy, we have been writing non-chronological reports on endangered animals.  The children have used a checklist to ensure that their writing has included the features of a non-chronological report.  They have used technical vocabulary in their reports and interesting adjectives.  The children used subheadings and paragraphs to present their work clearly

In Numeracy, we have been consolidating addition and subtraction skills.  We have used various methods such as column method and drawing their own number lines to solve calculations.  The children have solved problems involving addition and subtraction.

In Science, the children have carried out a fair test when investigating the question “Do people with long legs jump further than people with short legs?” They made predictions, drew clear diagrams, recorded their results in a table and wrote a short conclusion.

During Topic lessons this week, we sorted animals into the correct biomes.  The children had to decide which biome an animal was best suited to and explain why the animal should live there.

We are looking forward to the term ahead in which we will start our new topic “Roaming Romans!”
