We have had another fantastic week of learning as well as celebrated Loy Krathong. Yesterday, we wore our traditional Thai clothes to pay our respects and show gratitude to the goddess of water. In class, we made beautiful lotus-shaped rafts decorated with flowers to take home and participate in our own personal celebrations with family.

In Literacy, we revisited our previous genre of writing – non-chronological reports – to demonstrate how much we had learnt and could remember from this unit of work. This time, we applied our toolkit features to research and write an informative report on all aspects of the Romans from their daily life to their Empire.

In Maths, we focused on the 8 times table and used our previous learning about the 4 times table to support us with our fluency. We also had great fun learning about Roman numerals, exploring the school for numbers that we could represent using the Roman numeral equivalent.

In Art, we have studied the colour wheel to develop our understanding of primary and secondary colours. We then used this to create our own collage-version of the colour wheel.

In Science, we have been developing our understanding of rock formation. Using varying types of chocolate, we have explored how different rocks are formed due to heat and pressure and made our very own ‘chocolate rocks’.

In Topic, we have studied how the Roman Empire grew and used maps/atlases to locate the areas that were conquered and ruled by the Romans.
