What a fantastic end to another busy half term! This week, we have celebrated Songkran in school during which the children took part in a palm-watering ceremony with their teachers to reflect and offer good wishes for the Thai New Year. On Thursday, we also enjoyed our ‘Super South America’ themed topic day and performed brilliantly in a Year 3 Samba march parade, wearing our vibrant carnival headdresses. Some of us even participated in the Fun Run with our friends and family after school too! Please take a look at all the great learning and events we have been involved in this week at the bottom of this post!
In Literacy, we have planned and written our own persuasive texts about a South American country that we were particularly interested in. We also focused on the importance of proofreading and editing our work to improve our writing.
In Maths, we have been consolidating our understanding of time. We have focused on problems involving the start and end of events as well as measuring and comparing durations of time in seconds.
In Topic, we have continued to learn about ‘Super South America’ by researching the famous ‘Rio Carnival’ and presenting our learning in an eye-catching and informative poster. We also used our knowledge of carnivals to inform our headdress designs in Art, producing beautiful and colourful designs to wear during our Samba parade.
In Science, we began to generate our own questions and plan an investigation about the way in which water is transplanted in plants, ready to investigate this after the half term break.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all an enjoyable, relaxing and safe holiday as well as a very ‘Happy Songkran’!
