Thursday 12th October 2017
A huge thank you to all the parents for our consultations earlier in the week. Your commitment to both the school and your children’s learning makes an enormous difference.
In Literacy, we have planned our potions and we will be writing these up next week. There may be children flying, shrinking, disappearing or turning into animals for which we apologise in advance.
In Numeracy, we completed a hook to see how confident children were with multiplication. We have then looked at mental methods, including partitioning, doubling and using factors. We will move on to written multiplication and then division. We would like to stress the importance of children having a quick recall of multiplication tables and the related division facts. A good website children can use to practise can be found here: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button
In Humanities, some children have completed the local area survey, and we will evaluate our findings next week. During Art, we have continued studying sketching and shading techniques and will be sketching a large Hogwarts character or scene to showcase all the skills we have learned to date. In ICT, we continue to learn about what make us good digital citizens. In Science, we have studied how bicarbonate of soda reacts with lemon juice, and we will move on to evaporation and the water cycle.
