Last week, we had a fantastic week of learning in order to encourage a passion for reading as well as promote the importance of reading! We linked our learning to a great book – The Day The Crayons Quit – by Drew Daywalt and participated in lessons involving drama scenes, writing letters as crayons and finding the average length of a crayon in our classroom.
On Friday, we dressed up as our favourite book character and paraded our fantastic costumes… with not even the rain dampening our spirits! After our Fully Booked Week assembly, we also had an engaging workshop with a famous author, David Bedford, who explained how he had become an author and the process of writing a book.
Thank you to all the children for their enthusiasm during the week and a special well done to all those who demonstrated their love of reading at the reading fair and those who entered the book mark and reading competitions. A huge thank you to parents for their continual support also, especially those who came to admire our wonderful costumes on Friday.
