This week in Maths we’ve been learning about Ratio. At the moment we are looking at how we use the ratio sign to compare between 2 and 4 different ‘things’. We can write ratio statements (for every…there are…), use the ratio colon (Blue:Red) and can express as fractions of amounts (1 our of the 4 are …).
As we develop these skills further we will be aiming to cover the following English National Curriculum Objectives:
- solve problems involving the relative sizes of 2 quantities where missing values can be found by using integer multiplication and division facts
- solve problems involving the calculation of percentages [for example, of measures and such as 15% of 360] and the use of percentages for comparison
- solve problems involving similar shapes where the scale factor is known or can be found
- solve problems involving unequal sharing and grouping using knowledge of fractions and multiples
