There will be no swimming you time or swim team during the final week of term. During this time our team of coaches and lifeguards will be undertaking their UK RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. This is the leading lifeguard qualification in the UK.

Swimmers who wish to represent Shrewsbury International School at ANY competitions (Level 0 and above) will be required to attend a minimum of TWO sessions per week. Priority will be given to those swimmers who have selected a minimum of two swim sessions per week. Please ensure you book into the correct level (squad) (2016/2017 Squads are available below), booking into the incorrect squad may result in a place no longer being available in your correct squad.

2016 Summer Reading for Year 5 and Year 6

Here are some great books by a variety of authors that you might like to try this summer! These books are suitable for reading alone or reading aloud with a parent. A * next to a title denotes a new book on the list this year. For more new and recommended books, follow SHBlibrary on Pinterest.

Black Beauty by Anna Sewell

Charlotte’s Web by EB White

What is this list and how should I use it? This list is a collection of books, articles, and videos that the teachers in your A-Level courses have recommended for you. The titles represent a mix of further reading in your subject areas and suggested books to develop your understanding of your A-Level courses. Use the links on this page to navigate to a specific subject.

Where can I find these books? There are links next to each title that identify where you can find a copy of that book. In general, they can be found either in the Shrewsbury Library (http://library.shrewsbury.ac.th/), in departmental offices, or in digital version on Overdrive (http://shrewsbury.lib.overdrive.com). Which books should I read? Reading widely will both help you with your coursework and provide you with discussion material for your university applications and interviews. Choose books you think will interest you; you might want to take into consideration your intended course of study at university, your academic strengths and weaknesses, and specific recommendations from your teachers. If you have questions about any of these titles, please see your A-Level subject teachers, your Reading the World teacher, or Ms Beeman. The Open Syllabus Project may also be of interest; it lists the most commonly assigned texts in university courses in the US and the UK and produces this mesmerising map of texts that are frequently grouped together.

Dear Parents and Swimmers

Shrewsbury Aquathon will be hosted on Saturday October 8th – an entry form will be sent out at the start of next term.

Please find below advance notice of the events being hosted:

This year the event will also include a scoot/bike & run for the 6 and unders. Participants will scooter or bike 1 lap of our track (370m) followed by a 500m run – parents are encouraged to run alongside their child for moral support.

Entry Fee 500thb

Age groups for the Aquathon are age on the day (October 8^th):

• 8&U Swim 100m (4 Lengths) / Run 1km (1 Lap) – swimmers may use a kick board if needed
• U11 Swim 300m (12 Lengths) / Run 2km (2 Laps)
• U13 Swim 400m (16 Lengths) / Run 3KM (3 Laps)
• U18 Swim 800m (32 Lengths) / Run 5KM (5 Laps) – If we have sufficient entries this age group will be broken into a U15 and U18 event.
• Scooter/Bike & Run 370m Scoot / Bike & Run 500m
