On Monday 25th February Shrewsbury International School will be hosting Olympic Swimmer James Goddard in a stroke clinic for senior swimmers, following this session he will be hosting a parent and swimmer talk open to every member of our swimming community.

The talk will take place in the Memorial Hall starting at 4pm promptly, following the talk there will be an opportunity for photos and to wear James’s Medals.

James is one of the best swimmers the U.K. has ever produced, reaching finals at Olympic, World, Commonwealth and European level. He represented Great Britain at three Olympic Games (Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012), finishing 4th in the 200m backstroke final in Athens. He knows exactly what it takes to make it to the top of professional and elite sport!

James trained as a full-time professional for 12 years alongside some of the best swimmers and coaches in the world. He has a vast knowledge of stroke technique and the work ethic and mental approach required at training and in competition to become an elite performer.

James started swimming at the age of five and finished competing professionally at the age of 30. He relates well to swimmers of different ages and varying abilities having mixed with all types of people during his swimming life. Having recently retired, James is keen to pass on what he knows to others and make swimming rewarding for everyone.
