To celebrate our ‘Food’ topic over the past half term, we started the week with an exciting visit from some local Thai food vendors! We bought pork and sticky rice, waffles, fresh fruit and there was even an ice cream truck! The children put their Maths skills into practise by counting out the correct amount of money to pay for each item. We talked about how the food tasted and discussed what our favourite foods were. Thank you so much for all your support over the past half term by cooking with the children in Year 1! It has been such a valuable experience for the children as they have learned about so many different types and foods and where they come from.
It’s starting to feel Christmassy in Year 1 this week! We have started reading ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ where we go on a journey with a postman to deliver lots of Christmas cards and meet exciting characters along the way. The children have already made a Christmas card and a board game!
In Maths, we have been practising using a number line to subtract two single digit numbers. The children are getting much more confident when writing number sentences and we are so proud of their progress and determination.
Next week is a very busy week. We have City Campus coming to join us for a Christmas themed rotation day filled with many exciting activities! The school is closed on Thursday 5th and the much-anticipated Sports Day is on Friday 6th.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you next Friday at Spots Days!
