Details are available below for the next hosting of Bangkok Prep’s Puppy Cup. The meet will be hosted on 14th January 2017.
Shrewsbury International School were the champions of this meet last year and it would be wonderful to retain the Puppy Cup.
This is a development meet and therefore, following last year, any swimmers who attended ISB SwimFest are not eligible for this swim meet. We would actively encourage all swimmers in Year 2 Swim Team and Development Squad to consider this event for their first competitive experience.
Please see Mrs Gill for an entry form or if you are unsure whether this meet would be suitable for yourself. Entries are 750thb and close on Wednesday 7th December at 4pm.
Dear Swimmers and Parents
It has been a busy two weeks for the swim team. Last weekend we attended the ISB SwimFest and yesterday we were at the first hosting of the NIST Falcons Swim Extreme – full results to follow shortly from NIST.
45 swimmers traveled to ISB for the annual two day swim meet where swimmers are permitted to swim in four individual events and two relay events. In addition to the individual age group trophies available, there is also the much coveted team event. Teams compete for the highest total point trophy and the average points trophy (total number of points / total number of swimmers). Shrewsbury this year went with the focus to achieve the highest average point score.
Shrewsbury placed 2nd in the average points trophy with an average of 17 points per swimmer to Bangkok Patana who took an outstanding 101 swimmers and scored 20 points per swimmer.
In the high point team trophy, Shrewsbury were battling with Bangkok Prep throughout most of the day for 3rd and 4th place, Shrewsbury finished the meet with 770.50 points to finish 4th. This is a superb progression in team scores across the past 5 years.
There were a number of outstanding swims at the meet:
Prim P 9 – 10 years (Year 6) won all of her events: 100m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 100m IM, 50m Freestyle – scoring maximum points (64) Prim won the high point trophy for her age group. Last year Prim placed joint 3rd in this age group, this is a brilliant development Well Done Prim!
Win L 13 – 14 years (Year 10) won both the 200m IM and 100m Backstroke and came second in both the 100m Freestyle and 50m Fly, scoring a total of 58 points to also win his age group. This age group is extremely competitive, like Prim, Win also placed 3rd last year. Congratulations Win on your continued development as a swimmer.
Loogcluin 9 – 10 years (Year 6) swam some amazing races to record 1st place in 50m Breaststroke, 2nd Place in 50m Fly, 3rd Place in 50m Backstroke and 4th in 100 IM.
