On Saturday and Sunday Prim, Pon and Maxi took up the opportunity to swim with Australia Swimming High Performance Coach Rohan Taylor at a workshop hosted by Ruamedee School.
The swimmers took part in two morning sessions with Rohan where they improved all four strokes, together with their starts, turns and underwater work. Following this session Coach Mica and Ms Gill then spent both Saturday and Sunday with Rohan, listening to the latest best practices for swimming, both were delighted to learn that the current practices used here at Shrewsbury are in line with those being undertaken by the very best swim programs within Australia and across the world. Following the theory sessions a senior swimmers session took part for swimmers aged 13 and over.
If there are any swimmers who would be interested in assisting producing a series of stroke practice videos, that will be used within swim lessons and team practices please come and see Ms Gill in the Sports and Activities Office. Swimmers will be required for a 30 minute session on a Friday morning both this week and next week and will receive a Starbucks voucher for their hard work. If you are interested in helping out please speak directly to Ms Gill.

6 Shrewsbury Senior swimmers (Rena, Alex W, Matthew W, Peem, Win and Bobby) travelled to UWC SEA East Singapore to compete in the 2nd Dragons Den Invitational Swim Meet from 22nd – 24th April 2016.
The meet was an outstanding success for all swimmers who had an amazing opportunity to swim against a number of top level swimmers from across Asia many of whom attend schools with over 2000 students.
For some swimmers this was both their first international meet and first senior meet, learning coping strategies for adapting to new sleeping routines and eating habits is one of the major learning experiences from international meets. Changes in sleep and eating routines can greatly affect your performance, this did not appear to be the case for our swimmers – every Shrewsbury swimmer recorded at least one personal best time with Bobby making all four of his possible finals and achieving 2nd Place in the U12 Boys 50m Backstroke and 1st Place in the U12 Boys 50m Freestyle. Win achieved 3rd place in the 13 -14 yrs Boys 400m freestyle. Congratulations to all swimmers, we are extremely proud of each and everyone of you.

All swimmers have returned highly motivated to train to the best of their abilities ready to improve on their performances at the meet next year. This meet is open to all senior school swimmers who achieve the qualifying times and we look forward to attending this meet next year with a bigger squad.
Congratulations to the team.

Dear Parents and Swimmers
There is an exciting opportunity for swimmers to undertake 2 coaching sessions with the Australian Swim Coach – Rohan Taylor at Ruamrudee International School on Saturday and Sunday 6th & 7th May.
Rohan has 25 years coaching experience and has been a Victorian Institute of Sport High Performance Coach since 2000. Rohan was the Carey Aquatic Head Coach/High Performance Coach from 2000 to 2006 and CA Tritons High Performance Coach from 2006 to 2008. He has been the Nunawading High Performance Coach since October 2008.
Rohan coaches the High Performance squad at Nunawading, Victoria, oversees talent identification, and assists with Coach Development at the club. In addition, Rohan is a current High Performance Coach for the Australian Olympic Swimming Team.
Junior swimmers (8 – 12 years) have the opportunity of two sessions with Rohan 7 – 9.30am on both days, while the senior sessions (13 years +) will take place between 3-5pm. Please kindly note that this is NOT a Shrewsbury event and therefore all swimmers will be responsible for their own transport arrangements and parental supervision.
The fee for both sessions (Saturday and Sunday) is 6000 thb per person which includes the two 2-hour sessions with Rohan Taylor, plus a T-shirt, and food following the clinic. Any swimmers interested in this amazing opportunity should register through this link https://sites.google.com/a/rism.ac.th/vcp-conference/swimmers.
