Enrollment for block 3 opens at the weekend (Saturday for Year 1&2 and Sunday for Year 3-6), all swimmers who are part of the stroke development program have now been assessed and should have received an assessment slip today advising of their group for block 3, (swimmers who were absent this week, please re-book into your current group).

Swimmers who have received an assessment slip indicating they have been selected for an invitational squad, these sessions are held on a Friday 2.40 – 3.30pm, acceptance to this squad must be booked through the Sports and Activities Office. All other groups (Stroke Development, Level 1 and Level 0) are booked through CHQ.

For those swimmers who are currently in swim team, please re-book into your current squad. BISAC trials will be held very shortly (date to be announced), following this internal squad movements will take place.

The trophy has been delivered. As promised, if you would like to have your photo taken with the High Point Average Trophy please drop by the Sports and Activities Office with your camera.

Over the past month swimmers have undergone trials for the first ever stand alone FOBISIA Swimming Championships. Previously FOBISIA swim meets have only been available as part of a three day multi sport competition. Shrewsbury are honored to be hosting the first FOBISIA Swimming Age Group Championships.

The Championships will be held over three days in January 2015. The first two days – Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th January will take the form of preliminary heats with the finals held on Sunday 25th January 2015.

Similar to the BISAC Swimming Championships only 4 swimmers per age group event may compete for each event title, the age groups (Age on January 26th) are as follows:

9 Years

10 Years

11 Years

12 Years

13-14 Years

15 Years +

The fastest four swimmers in each event have been invited to join the FOBISIA Squad (please kindly note this is NOT the Primary FOBISIA Games Team – selection for this team will take place in term 2 – more details to follow later).

If you have been unsuccessful in obtaining a place in the FOBISIA Age Group Championship squad, please continue training hard. Early in 2015 trials will be held for the BISAC squad. The BISAC Swimming Championships will take place 27th – 29th March 2015.

Congratulations to all swimmers who attended the ISB SwimFest at the weekend, it was a very long and very hot swim meet, all swimmers should be exceptionally proud of their performances.

Shrewsbury achieved amazing results winning the Average Points Trophy and placing 4th overall with 936 points (last year 6th place 562 points). A special mention goes out the following swimmers:

Loogcluin – Winner of the Under 8 Boys (Winner 25m Backstroke, Winner 25m Freestyle, 2^nd Place 25m Butterfly, 3^rd Place 25m Breaststroke)

Prim P – Winner of the Under 8 Girls  (Winner 100IM, Winner 25m Butterfly, Winner 25m Freestyle, 2^nd Place 50m Freestyle)

Win – Winner of the 11-12 years Boys (Winner 200m IM, Winner 100m Freestyle, Winner 50m Butterfly, 2^nd Place 50m Freestyle)

ISB SwimFest Results 2014

Congratulations to every swimmer, your outstanding hard work and dedication to your training at school is clearly showing.

Please follow the link below for the meet program for this afternoon. Warm up will begin at 2.40 with the first race at 3pm. The meet will also run on Meet Mobile.

Some swimmers are swimming up in to the next age group, this is to allow them to swim either the 200IM or 50m event for the FOBISIA swimming trials. If you find your name has been mistakenly missed from the program, please do not worry we can add you on poolside.

Dear Parents and Swimmers

A polite reminder that on Tuesday November 18th Shrewsbury International School will be hosting St Andrews Samakee International School in a friendly swim meet.

If Tuesday is not your normal training session and you would like to be included within this swim meet, please contact Mrs Gill before Lunch Time on Tuesday.

This friendly meet will start at 3.15pm and will conclude by 4.45pm (if Tuesday is your usual you time session, you will be collected in the normal manner at 2.40pm). If you do another You-Time on Tuesdays please ensure you have excused yourself from this activity with either Khun Lynn or Khum Tum in the Activities Office.

If you wish to trial for the FOBISIA SWIMMING Age Group Championships in January this will be your final opportunity to improve your 50m times before the team is selected on November 28th. The FOBISIA Swimming Age Group Championships are open to swimmers who will be 9 years and older on January 26th. Swimmers who will still be 8 years old on January 26th are welcome to trial for the team, with the fastest 4 swimmers per event being selected.

Aerobic endurance is lost 3 x faster than you gain it!

Miss 1 session and you have actually missed 3,

Miss 2 sessions and you have actually missed 6,

Miss 3 sessions and you have actually missed 9, – that’s 9 additional sessions then needed to make up your lost endurance

Train Hard and it WILL be worth it!

Dear Parents and Swimmers

I hope you all had a restful holiday and are looking forward to the term ahead.

If you took part in any swim meets during the school holidays please do not forget to keep me updated with your results. Any improvements in your personal best times can be added to the times held by school and can be used for a better heat entry in any future school swimming meets.

ISB SwimFest Trials

Tuesday 14^th October 4 – 5pm 

no need to register, see you poolside, ready to start racing at 4pm

(Normal swim training will continue)

Swimmers will be required to completed 50m (all 4 strokes) and IM

Open to swimmers in Level 1 and above 

Any swimmer whom is unable to attend and would like to be considered for the team, please see Mrs Gill ASAP, to arrange an alternative trial date.

(U8 only need attend IM as the 25m Tiger Prawns times will be used for selection)

Swimmers who attend these trials must be able to attend both days of the ISB SwimFest – November 15^th & 16^th

Selected Swimmers will be informed on Thursday 16^th October

Team Training will take place Mondays, Wednesday, Thursday & Fridays-  4-5pm, Tuesdays will be exclusively for the relay teams only (October 27^th – November 14^th).

Swimmers should aim to attend as many sessions as possible (please register under FOBISIA Swim Team via CHQ)

Shrewsbury will be taking the best possible team to win the high point’s trophy (this is the team with the highest number of points per swimmer), therefore only a small team will be selected.

All other swimmers will be invited to attend a B grade swim meet, hosted at Shrewsbury International School on

Tuesday November 18^th (more details to follow shortly).

Congratulations to all 8 and under swimmers who traveled to Bangkok Patana for the annual Tiger Prawns Swim Meet on Saturday.

Wearing their green and gold swim suits, Shrewsbury dominated the meet winning a heat winner ribbon in almost every race.

Swimming 128 races, Shrewsbury swimmers recorded an outstanding 111 personal best times (87%). Every 7 year old swimmer recorded a personal best swim in every race they entered. A first for the team!

In the Relays Shrewsbury won both the 7 years and 8 years races, a brilliant start to the competitive year ahead.

The next race will be the ISB Swim Fest with more details to follow over the next week.
