Firstly, a big well done to the children of 3DS, we all loved their vibrant and fact filled South America assembly. A special well done for the great dance at the end; very enjoyable! In class, we continued to work on our topic ‘Endangered Animals.’
In Literacy, we continued looking at non-chronological reports. The children have learnt all the features and have now researched their class animal, and some classes have already written theirs. Good work!
In Maths, we have been finding fractions of quantities. The children have then used their skills to solve fraction word problems. For what is a really tricky unit, the children have excelled in their understanding.
In Topic, the children have looked at why animal poaching takes place. They looked at a real life example and tried to see the situation from the poacher, the police and most importantly the animal concerned. They used drama to help understand some complex issues.
In Science the children have learnt recognise and describe the different trophic levels. Many of the children used ‘Puppet Pals’ or ‘Explain Everything’ to demonstrate their understanding of this process.
In Art, we have been printing using fruits, vegetables and other natural resources. Next week, we will be making our own tee shirts with animal prints.
There are some dates coming up for Year 3 next week:
Year 3 trip to the Ancient City on Thursday 24th May.
Wild Wild West Movie night also on Thursday 24th May at 3.45pm in the memorial hall.
The school will break up for half term on Friday 25th May for a well earned break, returning on Thursday 1st June.
Thank you for your continued support, and have a lovely weekend.
