Dear Parents and Swimmers

The You Time! enrollment window is currently open until 27th October the system then reopens again 6th – 13th November, due to the fact a number of You Time! swim sessions have missed due to storms and problems with the pool plant, my recommendation is that all swimmers currently within the You Time! swim program book for the same group they are currently swimming in. Any swimmers who have achieved all the outcomes to progress to the next stage will receive confirmation this week, in addition these will be posted on the swimming notice board on Thursday. Alterations to groups and days can be made online until 27th October the system then reopens again 6th – 13th November.

For any swimmers who would like to record 25m times in preparation for entry into swim team (the next entry will take place in block 3), the first time trial will take place on:

Wednesday November 1st – Year 5 & 6 registration here

Wednesday November 8th – Year 2,3 & 4 registration here

Any exceptional swimmers identified at these trials may be invited to join the team earlier.

The session will begin at 2.40pm and will be concluded by 4pm – all swimmers who have registered are to go to the canteen  (Pre – Prep studio for Year 2) where they will be collected by the swim coaches and brought over to the time trials.

Swimmers will swim 25m of Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly – swimmers should only register for these trials if they are able to complete all four strokes.

For swimmers who are unable to swim 25m of all four competitive strokes and who wish to join the You Time! swimming program and did not complete an assessment in Term 4 2016/2017, please register for an assessment session – these can be booked in the You Time Office. Sessions will begin promptly please ensure you are dressed on poolside ready to swim (swimsuit, hat and goggles) in advance of your session booking. Each time slot can take a maximum of 3 people.

Swimmers in Year 2 should book directly into the Year 2 You Time! swimming program.

Dear Parents and Swimmers

Sadly there has not been enough interest in the Bangkok Swim League from the other Internationals Schools within Bangkok. Not to be put off, we hope to start the swim league early in 2018.

This Wednesday (18th October), we will host a surprise Trick or Treat Swim Meet – swimmers will not know of their teams, events or groupings until the meet. If you would like to register for this meet (registration is essential as we will be unable to enter swimmers on the day) please register through this link. The meet is open to all swimmers in Level 0 and above and registration will close at Midday on Wednesday. The meet will begin at 2.40pm and will be concluded by 4pm.

Will you get a trick or a treat???

Have a good weekend

Mrs Gill

Dear Parents

It was wonderful to see so many of you there tonight to learn about the swimmer pathway. The presentation will be repeated again, later in the year for those of you who missed this event.

Congratulations to all swimmers.

What is the  Bangkok Swim League?

The Bangkok Swim League is a TEAM event. Usually the team trophy is decided on the day or weekend of the swim meet, not every swimmer may be available at this event or may feel unwell. The Swim League gives teams an opportunity to compete over a number of months to decide who is the best team – similar to a football league.

How will the SHB team be decided?

Shrewsbury will field an A and B team into the meet series – swimmers will be unable to move between teams (swimmers who compete for the B team in the first meet will remain with the B team for the entire meet series).

Swimmers can compete in a maximum of 3 events including the relays – relay teams score double points – relay teams will usually, although not exclusively, take prescient when selecting the team.

Swimmers do not have to swim the same events at every meet – in the first meet they may compete in three (3) relay events, in the next meet they may compete in three (3) individual events.

Usual selection requirements are also applicable – swimmers must be regularly attending a minimum of two sessions per week.

If we are not selected for the first meet can we compete in one of the future meets?

Definitely, keep training hard.

How will we know if we have been selected?

Teams will be posted on the swimming notice board for the first meet on Tuesday 10th October following the processing of the NIST Falcons results. Team members will also receive an email inviting them to be part of the team.

Is there any entry fee to pay?

Only external teams will be asked to pay an entry fee. As this is a selected team, entry costs are covered by Shrewsbury International School.

If we are not selected can we still come and support the team?

Most certainly, the louder the support the faster the team will swim!

Which other teams will be attending?

The full list of teams and meet program will be available on Tuesday 17th October.

Which events are available?

Full event details are available on the Swim League Website

If you have any questions regarding any aspects of the Swim League please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Gill in the Sports and Activities Office.

Many Thanks

Mrs Gill
