Junior swimmers were able to compete in six events and two relays while senior swimmers could compete in eight events and three relays. In a similar format to last year, senior swimmers had the exciting opportunity to swim in both heats and finals.

Every swimmer scored valuable points and came away with at least one ribbon or medal.

There were outstanding performances in the relays where swimmers often swan up into the next age group. In the 10 year old girls relay team: Prim P (year 5, 9 years old) Amelia (year 5, 9 years old), Genis (Year 6, 10 years old), Kate (Year 6, 10 years old) won the 4 x 50m Freestyle relay.

In the girls 11 year old 4 x 50m Freestyle relay; Remie, Gam, Sarah and Thane placed a close 2nd place.

Swimming up 3 age groups into the 13-14 year old relay Pon from Year 7 assisted Matthew P, Matthew W and Peem to 2nd place in 4 x 50m relay and 3rd place in the 4 x 100m freestyle relay. Loogcluin Year 5 swim up on Sunday to assist the boys to a closely fought 4th place in the 4x50m medley relay.

While the girls; Alex, Rena, Prim B and Gaby had a very close race in the 13-14 years 4x50m and 4x100m freestyle to place 5th and 4th respectively.

In their individual events both Prim P and Genis placed 3rd overall in their age groups, congratulations girls this is a superb achievement.

Matthew P, came 2nd in the boys 12 year old 100m freestyle. Peem, placed 3rd in the boys 13-14 years 200m freestyle.  Rena, undertook a demanding program of events, with three back to back finals on the first day, narrowly missing out on a medal in the finals of the girls 13-14m 200m IM, 200m freestyle and 100m Butterfly finals. Celebrating her birthday and therefore swimming up into the next age group Alex swam two brilliant races in both the 50 and 100m backstroke. Prim B together with Matthew P made at least one final on each day of competition, against such a strong competitive field this was an amazing achievement. Swimming outside of their comfort zone Peem and Matthew W undertook both the 400 IM and 400 freestyle, these are events Shrewsbury would love to see more swimmers undertaking.

19 swimmers competed this morning in their first ever swim meet at the Bangkok Prep Puppy Cup. The meet was open to only those swimmers who were not selected for the recent ISB SwimFest and contained many of our Year 2 swim team and Development Squad.

The swimmers competed in 6 events; 25m Freestyle, 50m Freestyle, 25m Backstroke, 25m Breaststroke, 25m Butterfly and a relay.

Many swimmers achieved a personal best time, some achieved heat winner ribbons and many achieved event medals.

In the overall points score Shrewsbury placed first to win the first every Bangkok Prep Puppy Cup. A huge congratulations to everyone who took part in this wonderfully friendly yet still highly competitive swim meet.

Any swimmers who are interested in joining the swim team should register for stroke school this week during the You Time enrollment block, in week 7 a time trial is held where swimmers can enter either the Year 2 Swim Squad or Development Squad.
