Junior swimmers were able to compete in six events and two relays while senior swimmers could compete in eight events and three relays. In a similar format to last year, senior swimmers had the exciting opportunity to swim in both heats and finals.

Every swimmer scored valuable points and came away with at least one ribbon or medal.

There were outstanding performances in the relays where swimmers often swan up into the next age group. In the 10 year old girls relay team: Prim P (year 5, 9 years old) Amelia (year 5, 9 years old), Genis (Year 6, 10 years old), Kate (Year 6, 10 years old) won the 4 x 50m Freestyle relay.

While the girls; Alex, Rena, Prim B and Gaby had a very close race in the 13-14 years 4x50m and 4x100m freestyle to place 5th and 4th respectively.

In their individual events both Prim P and Genis placed 3rd overall in their age groups, congratulations girls this is a superb achievement.

Matthew P, came 2nd in the boys 12 year old 100m freestyle. Peem, placed 3rd in the boys 13-14 years 200m freestyle.  Rena, undertook a demanding program of events, with three back to back finals on the first day, narrowly missing out on a medal in the finals of the girls 13-14m 200m IM, 200m freestyle and 100m Butterfly finals. Celebrating her birthday and therefore swimming up into the next age group Alex swam two brilliant races in both the 50 and 100m backstroke. Prim B together with Matthew P made at least one final on each day of competition, against such a strong competitive field this was an amazing achievement. Swimming outside of their comfort zone Peem and Matthew W undertook both the 400 IM and 400 freestyle, these are events Shrewsbury would love to see more swimmers undertaking.
