Dear Parents,
What a fantastic start to Year 1 the children have had this week! We are so impressed by how well they have settled into their new classrooms. It has been lovely welcoming so many new children to Shrewsbury this year and the children have made lots of new friends already.
In Maths, we have been grouping different objects in different ways and talking about what we have done using Mathematical vocabulary. We have also been practising counting forwards and backwards to 10. In Literacy, we have been reading lots of familiar and new stories. The children love joining in with the familiar phrases! We have been busy learning about our character strength for this half term, respect, and thinking about ways we can be respectful around school. We are going to make sure we say thank you to the kitchen staff at lunch time and look after our new toys in Year 1.
