BISAC Team Selection Swim Meet Events

If you have not yet signed up and would like to do so, please follow the link below:

Sign up for BISAC Selection Swim Meet Saturday March 8th

Please note that this will be the only opportunity to qualify for the BISAC Team.

The first 3 swimmers in each event who have been completing the recommended number of BISAC training sessions will be selected, (top 4 for relays).  If a swimmer is selected for more than their permitted number of events (4 Juniors / 6 Seniors) then swimmer number 4 will be selected.

Please select as many events as you feel you are able compete in at the selection meet, giving yourself the best opportunity to be selected.  Fewer swimmers enter the longer distances and therefore these events are easier to achieve a medal in.

If you would like to be considered for the relay teams it is important that you also select either 25m freestyle (for juniors) or 50m freestyle (for seniors). The medley relay teams will be selected from the first swimmer in the 25m  (8 & under) or 50m of each event for that age group.

Although many entries have qualifying times – do not be disheartened, you have all trained very hard over the past few months, please try the event, you may make the qualifying time.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Gill in the Sports and Activities Office.

Take a look at Sun Yang’s high elbow in the under water pull phase. Look at how he pushes off on his back at the wall during a turn and rotates to his front in a streamlined position, keeping his head down for that first stroke. How he rotates to his side and really holds the water. As this is a 1500m swim his kicking is not as fast as it would be if he were swimming 100m, however it is still great technique kicking from his hips.

Sun Yang 1500m Freestyle Swim

You’ve trained hard all year and the day is finally here…Its swim meet day. You’re nervous, but excitied. You know that you have put all the training in you could. You calm the butterflies and step onto the block, the starters gun goes and you’re off. Swimming your heart out, you touch the pads at the finish and look up at the score board, a personal best. YES. All that hard work has paid off. You go to your coach for feed back about your swim, but they look really sad, you’ve been disqualified. What did you do wrong???

Its heartbreaking when you get disqualified, please see the new disqualification form from British Swimming here to see what swimming actions will result in a disqualification.
