This is a super fun project for origami beginners and kids, plus a great little one to encourage reading! Let’s make a Rudolph Reindeer origami corner bookmark. Thank you Easy Peasy and Fun for another amazing idea again.

DIY Rudolph Reindeer Origami Corner Bookmarks

Reindeer Origami Corner Bookmark

For this easy origami you’ll need

  • brown origami paper
  • dark brown, red and white paper
  • scissors
  • glue
  • black marker

You start by folding the origami paper (you can totally use regular brown paper for this project too) diagonally both ways.

Fold into triangle (coloured side on the outside). Crease well.

Now fold the tip of the triangle to the bottom (one sheet only). You’ll see a white square within the triangle now.

Folding the Paper

Now fold the right corner of the triangle towards the middle. Do the same with the left one. Crease well and unfold.

Now fold the right corner towards the top and do the same with the left one. Crease well.

Tuck both “flaps” in the pocket. This reindeer corner bookmark is now ready to be decorated.

Making an Origami Corner Bookmark

Cut two antlers from the dark paper, a red nose (or brown one if you’re going with the regular reindeer) and two white circles for the eyes. Draw two black spots in the eyes and glue all things to their places.

DIY PAPER PLATE FAN

Paper Plate Fans are a breeze to make and a awesome summer craft.

Supplies:

image.jpg

– Paper Plate
– Scissors
– Craft Sticks
– Markers
– Paint & Brushes
– Glue

Craft:

1. Cut the paper plate in half.
2. Decorate the half plate. You can just use markers to draw, or you can paint first, like we did. If painting both sides let dry a few minutes before flipping over to paint the other side.

image.jpg

3. Once fully dry, color with markers.
4. Glue craft sticks together at one end at about a 90 degree angle, then attach to the back of the plate. (We used hot glue so we didn’t have to wait long to use.)
5. Let glue dry and then enjoy a cool breeze from your fan.

Thank you The Playful Parent for the idea of this fun craft, and we hope you will enjoy it!

We love doing simple origami and this time we’re going to learn how to make a paper boat – a summer favorite! Thank you Andreja Vucajnk from Easy Peasy and Fun again for your endless amazing craft ideas.

How to Make a Paper Boat Easy Origami Idea

How to Make a Paper Boat

All you need is a sheet of paper letter sized or A4. Regular print paper is perfect for this project. Use as many colors as possible.

Start off with a sheet of paper and fold it in half downwards.

Fold in half again as shown on the second image (you don’t need to make the crease from top to bottom – you just need to mark the center).

Bring corners to the center so that you get a triangle shape with a rectangle under it.

Fold the rectangle part under the triangle upwards (as shown with the purple spots) – flip your origami and do the same on the other side.

Paper Boat

Grab the center of the triangle shape as indicated on the first image above with the red spot and pull both sides (holding the red spot) out. Flatten.

You’ll get the shape as shown on the second image above (ignore that red spot in the left bottom corner – I have no idea how that one came there haha).

Fold the front layer up (as shown with the green spot) flip the origami boat to be and do the same with the back layer. You’ll get a triangle shape.

Pull the sides outwards and you’ll again get the square shape as shown on the first image bellow.

Folding Instructions

Slowly pull the top parts outwards and you have your paper boat!

Peek-A-Boo Surprise Eggs! Pop Up Dinosaur Juniors

Even though the library is in closure but that doesn’t mean the fun has to STOP! We have brought you the exciting craft by Maggy from Red Ted Art  to share it’s call ‘Pop Up Dinosaur Juniors‘. So let’s get started shall we?

Follow These Step by Step Instructions

Pop Up Dinosaurs – Supplies needed

  • printable  << Click here to save or print
  • popsicle sticks
  • scissorsto cut out template
  • glueto glue the paper toy together

How to make your Pop Up Dinosaur Juniors Puppets

Now, cut the one egg shape along the crack into two pieces. The lower part we will glue onto the back of the other egg shape (that is whole). Now here is the call out for attention!!!

Time to GLUE Greg on a Popsicle stick. Make sure to let it dry! I know, I know we dislike waiting, too!ATTENNNNNTION: ONLY put glue on the sides as seen in the picture so that Greg can be moved up and down later on.

When you have added glue put the lower cracked egg shell on top.

When the glue is dry you can slide Greg inside the egg and pull down on the Popsicle until the egg closes completely.

Last but not least add the egg shell “hat” on to Greg with (well yes) glue.

When the glue is dry you can slide Greg inside the egg and pull down on the popsicle until the egg closes completely.

Then SHOUT “peek-a-boo” and make Greg reappear by pushing the popsicle stick upwards.

Aren’t they adorable? Time to guess who is hiding in which egg!!! And once you have hatched your dinosaur juniours… why not create a little story with them?
