Dear Parents,
What a busy and exciting week we have had. All of the classes thoroughly enjoyed their visit to see their friends at City Campus where they had fun learning a dance, designing a mask and even making their own African food. Year 1 have also had a great time this week watching the Year 3 show Peter Pan. It was amazing to see such amazing acting and singing from the Year 3 children.
In English, the children have been using the PebbleGo app to help them research and take notes about their chosen African animal. They have enjoyed learning lots of new facts about their animal and then writing the information in simple sentences using capital letters and full stops.
In Maths, we have moved onto mass and capacity. We have been using vocabulary such as heavy, light, heavier, lighter, balance, equal as well as measuring liquids and describing the capacity of a container using vocabulary such as full, half full and empty.
In Science we have been learning about herbivores, omnivores and carnivores and classifying animals into these groups.
Please remember to sign up for a parents evening time for after half term.
Have a lovely half term break and see you all again on Monday 24th February.
The Year 1 Team.
